Blocked Drains Fern Bay

Fern Bay Plumbing Co clears blocked drains in Fern Bay, Stockton and Fullerton Cove, from sand-filled stormwater pits to slow sewers under 1960s beach houses. We film the line before and after the clear and quote any repair from that footage. Ring (02) 4063 1093 and the jetter, eel and drain camera arrive in the van together.

Why Do Drains Here Block Differently?

Sand, salt and a shallow water table shape every drain fault here. The main culprits:

Sand ingress

Grit blown off the dunes works in through loose joints and gaps around pit covers, then lies along the pipe. A clear that leaves those gaps open only buys time.

A high water table

Groundwater leaks into old joints and keeps pipes half full, hiding a crack or sag until the line stops altogether.

Stormwater with no exit

Level, low sand gives heavy rain nowhere to go, so a blocked pit pushes water back across the yard.

Coastal roots

Banksias and paperbarks send roots after moisture, and older clay and cast iron joints give them a way in.

A drain that chokes twice in a year still has its cause in the ground, and the camera is how we find it.

Fern Bay Drain Services

Each kind of drain work has its own page:

Plumber running a drain camera at an outdoor pit

Filming a drain line

When groundwater hides a sag or crack, the camera records where it is and how bad it has become.

Jet cleaning a drain

For sand packed along a pipe, where only water under pressure shifts all of it.

Plumber laying new pipe in an open trench

Clearing a blocked sewer

A toilet or floor waste backing up on the line between your house and the main.

Plumber installing a strip drain beside a sliding door

Unblocking stormwater lines

Pits and downpipe lines that fill with sand and leave water sitting on the lawn.

Pipe relining equipment set up in a shower recess

Relining a damaged pipe

A cracked older line sealed from inside instead of dug out of wet sand.

Tree roots exposed around a pipe in a trench

Cutting out tree roots

Banksia and paperbark roots that keep growing back into the same joint.

How We Run a Clearing Visit

  1. 1

    Ring or send the form

Call (02) 4063 1093 or use the form to explain the fault. We ask enough to bring the right equipment the first time.

  2. 2

    A fixed price first

A plumber inspects the job and names a fixed figure up front. Nothing gets started until you give the go-ahead.

  3. 3

    Clear, then film the result

The jetter or electric eel breaks through, then a second camera pass shows you the clean bore on screen.

  4. 4

    Covered for a year

Every job carries our 365-day warranty on all work. If something we did isn't right, ring the same number.

What Drives the Price of a Drain Job?

A drain quote rests on:

  • Depth and groundwater Dig in this sand and water appears quickly, so a repair toward the marsh can need shoring and a pump, all written into the figure.
  • Pipe type Old clay, rusted galvanised steel and modern PVC each need their own gear and fittings.
  • Clear only, or clear and repair Jetting a line is one figure; relining a cracked length found on camera is another, decided after you have seen the footage.
  • Day or night A drain that can wait for a weekday costs less than one opened after dark.

Old Settlement Pipes and Estate Drainage

The older homes carry older pipe

Fibro and brick veneer houses from the 1960s to 1980s, and the relocatable homes at Bayway, still run original drainage laid in loose sand. Joints have shifted, sand has crept in and roots have found the gaps, so these lines block without much warning.

Estate drainage fails another way

Built quickly from the 2000s on land once used for weapons testing, the estate can have rushed fit-offs and poorly bedded pipe, and a line that sags in wet sand holds water and grit.

Both get the same standard

When We're Not the Right Call

If the camera shows your line is clear and the choke is in the public sewer beyond your property, Hunter Water fixes that, not a private plumber. We show you the footage and you ring their faults line.

What Customers Say

Woke up Friday to find my two kitchen sinks backed up. … Possibly tree roots from backyard neighbours.

Drain Questions From These Streets

Is a sand build-up different to a normal blockage?

Yes. A grease or wipes plug sits in one place and breaks up, but sand blown in from the dunes lies along the whole pipe and drifts back after a quick push-through. We flush the full length with the jetter, film it afterwards and look at the joints and pit lids letting the sand in.

Do you camera the drain after clearing it?

Yes, and before it too. The first run locates the choke point, and the second shows you a clean, open bore on the screen. If the footage shows a cracked joint or roots, the repair quote is written with those pictures in front of you.

Can a blocked stormwater pit flood my yard here?

It can. Low, level sand gives a downpour nowhere to run, so one silted pit holds the rain on your lawn until it is dug out and flushed. Our stormwater page explains that clearing and any repair that follows.

Do you clear sewers in Stockton and Fullerton Cove too?

Yes. Stockton's older cottages and the Fullerton Cove road corridor get the same crew, jetter and drain camera as homes here, with the fixed figure agreed before we start.
